Vincent van gogh,1889,Cypresses

First of all the mood on cypresses is incredibly joyful despite van gogh was in a asylum while
painting this. Everything is made up of swirls its like trying to hypnotize the viewer into heaven.
Despite the vibrant colors lets not forget the giant dark tree leaning on the left it radiates with
resilience and power. One thing ive noticed is the clouds are blowing against the tall tree, shows
that a storm is approaching. Cypresses really does represents post-impressionism in every way
to the unearthly sky and unnatural greens it all oozes with emotions.

Medea about to kill her children,Eugene Delacroix 1838

This artwork shows women can have destructive power, the murder of own children with a knife.
Romantics love moods that are horrific and idealized the past and this medea shows everything to
intense emotion whilst the children struggling. The background surrounding medea and her children
is a big contrast to them, it is very dark highlighting medea and kids, the background tells us how dark
the painting truly is while the human bodies are painted very bright and soft, i almost thought medea
wasnt going to kill her kids.
